TAMALE UTRECHT TO HOST ACCRA HEARTS OF OAK IN FA CUP

5 February, 2013

The Kasalans were today drawn to host the oldest club in Ghana club history Accra hearts of Oak in the MTN FA Cup round of 64 in Tamale.

The FA Cup tie with the Phobians becomes the highest profile match ever played in a competitive game in the 4 year history of Tamale Utrecht Football Academy.

Accra Hearts of Oak undoubtedly one of the most successful clubs in African Football has won the Ghana premier league 20 times and lifted the FA Cup 10 times. The Phobians won the CAF championship league trophy in 2000 and also becoming the only club in Africa to have played in the champion’s league unbeaten.

However Tamale Utrecht playing at home has the advantage and could pose a big threat to the rebuilding of the Phobians under Coach David Duncan, as the tactician aims at reviving the poor run of form of the Phobians in the on-going Premier league where they currently occupied 15thposition of the 16 club league.

Meanwhile Real Tamale United will be guest Aduana in far away Dormaa whilst third tier sides Liberty Babies and Dynamos travel to Accra and Kumasi to engage Prestige Stars and King Faisal respectively.

The live draw entered 16 Premier League clubs, 24 Division 1 Clubs and 24 Division 2 clubs.
