YUSSIF A. BASIT PLAYS FIRST MATCH AFTER 8 MONTHS
24 December, 2012
Popularly called Abass by his colleagues, Tamale Utrecht defensive midfielder Yussif A. Basit played his first match for his club after an 8 month injury lay-off. He was introduced for Issahaku A. Kadiri in the 80th minute in the Kasalans 6-2 win against Al-Itifiaq on Sunday at the Kasalgu Complex.
Basit last game with TUFA was on April 11, 2012 when he picked a calf injury in the Kasalan friendly match against Gangdu FC.
He had featured in six matches for TUFA in the division one league, played in the two FA Cup matches and missed the rest of the competition in the season.
He scored just once last season in a TUFA 2-0 friendly win against Liberty Babies at the Ghanasco field two days before his injury against Gangdu FC.
The midfield enforcer has been a regular member of the squad in TUFA campaign in the Regional division two league last two seasons but his injury kept him out of action for most of the 2011/2012 season.
Coach Osman Rashid was happy that Basit had finally returned as he finalises his preparations for the division one league.
