ALI UMAR SCORES DEBUT TUFC GOAL

Tall and lanky defender Ali Umar scored debut goal since joining the club in a friendly today at the Ghanasco park. TUFC beat Liberty Babies 2-0.

The match that produced exciting scenes with missed opportunities from Tamale Utrecht in the first half could not produce any goals before recess. Jafaru A. Somed hit the wood work in the 20thminute and Saeed Mutallib shot wide from a rebound.

TUFC that played most of the game in Liberty half had another opportunity to open scoring but defensive midfielder Yussif Basit who had only the goalkeeper to beat misdirected his kick.

Man of the match Issahaku A. Kadiri whose incisive runs and crosses down the right received no target for any purposeful connection at goal.

The second half resumed with much more purposeful play from Liberty that played a compact game in defence to cut out TUFC raids at their goal.

Alidu Yakubu was introduced into the game for Wahab Mumin whilst Tuarik Musah entered for Alidu Mohammed Awal. Injured defender Adam Ibrahim was substituted for Mohammed Kassim.

TUFC continued with aggressive play on their opponents and forced Liberty goalkeeper Wakilu Sulemana to commit a penalty after striker Saeed Mutallib was brought in the penalty area.Yussif Adam Basit converted expertly to give TUFC the lead in the 73rd minute.

Three minutes later the situation changed after Ali Umar who stands at 2.0meters shot into the net from 30 yards for the second goal.

TUFC will travel to Tampe Kukou on Wednesday for their second friendly match in a build up to the polytank division one league that kick off on Saturday.
