Tamale Utrecht Football Academy participated in the 2011/2012 National Polytank Division One league and the MTN FA Cup competition in their maiden appearance last year. The academy won the 2011 Northern regional division two league in their maiden appearance to qualify to the division two league.

In the division one league, the academy placed sixth in the 8-club league table and avoided relegation though was hailed for their tiki taka like of football performance.

In the MTN FA Cup competition, Tamale Utrecht got underway recording their first win 2-1 in Salaga to Japka Warriors and advanced to the 1/64 stage of the competition. They missed out in the 1/32 stage after losing to Danbort 1-0 in Accra.

The 2012/2013 season is scheduled to start December 23 and in view of that, TUFA is preparing strenuously to participate in this season’s edition of the Polytank division one league and the MTN FA Cup.

The academy started preparations on September 5, 2012 and has since been undergoing conditioning and fitness exercise ahead of the new season. The club has played a couple of friendly matches and is also in the process of completing registration of players for the league.

Among the friendly matches played, TUFA drew 1-1 with the premiership giants Real Tamale United and lost 2-1 to Wa Allstars another premiership side. It also played and lost 3-2 to the national under 20 team, the Black Satellites.
