TUFA WIN IN DRAMATIC PENALTY SHOOTOUT IN MTN FA CUP COMPETITION

Tamale Utrecht Football Academyreached the round of 32 of the MTN FA Cup competition after beating Ghana premier league side Bechem United on penalties.

Captain, Vincent Die put TUFA in front in the 26th minute and held on to the break. Bechem United came into the second half desperate for an early equalizer, but it was TUFA who had the better of their opponents with Iddrissu Osman going closer but Bechem keeper saved in the 76th minute.

As the game seemed destine for a win advantage the Tamale based side, Bechem United were awarded a penalty five minutes to full, which they converted.

Following the 1-1 draw within regulation time, the two teams went straight into the lottery of football and it was Bright Agban who was the hero of the day after saving two spot kicks to eventually hand TUFA a place in the round of 32.

Iddrissu Osman, who assisted in TUFA’s first half opener, Tawrik and Academy boy, Mohammed Naeem converted their spot kicks whilst Bechem had two penalties saved.

It was a crucial finish for TUFA, who are hoping to reach the last eight for the first time since since reaching the last 16 in 2011, when they lost to Hearts of oak at the Tamale Sports Stadium.
