NUHU SALIFU HIT A HAT-TRICK AS UTRECHT BEAT DYNAMOS FC 3-1

9th March, 2014

Tamale Utrecht moved up to fourth in the Division One league Zone 1A table after a convincing 3-1 win over relegation threaten side Dynamos FC at the Academy Complex on Sunday afternoon.

Three second half goals from leading striker Salifu Nuhu piled the pressure on their relegation-threatened side.

Dynamos began the game on the front foot, but Utrecht showed menace on the counter-attack.

Their much-vaunted front three of Razak Patrick, Baba Mubarak and Nuhu showed more cohesion than in previous games, but it was Nuhu who almost put Utrecht ahead after 16 minutes.

The away side then had their goalkeeper to thank for keeping them level just before the half-hour mark when he kept out Salifu Nuhu's powerful back-post drive.

There was nothing their goalkeeper Alhassan Tahiru could do about the 53rd-minute opener, however, as Nuhu’s free-kick deflected past the keeper from eight yards for his ninth goal of the season.

Dynamos should have drawn level five minutes later when Hanan nodded over from three yards, before Jacob outmuscled Adams Baidou with his back to goal only to drag wide from 12 yards.

Slick interplay between Razak Patrick and substitute Alhassan Abdulai saw Utrecht been awarded a penalty after the former Bazooka winger was brought down when trying to go pass a defender , and Nuhu made no mistake as he converted coolly to extend the host lead.

Dynamos did reply in the 70th minute but Nuhu completed his hat-trick when he directed his free kick outside the penalty area only to see it deflected and straight into the net to kill the game.

Utrecht is now on level points with Guan and Africa United going into the last two matches and team manager Alhassan Habib thinks the team is almost there.
