BAZOOKA SPOT ON TO REVENGE TUFA FA CUP WIN
20 January, 2013
Bazooka FC moved joint second in Zone 1A in the opening matches of the 2012/13 Division one league after converting from the spot to beat Tamale Utrecht Football Academy 1-0 at the Wa Park on Saturday.
The Wa lads thus settled even with the Kasalans when they lost by a similar score at the Kasalgu complex in the FA Cup competition a week ago.
The visitors who were not satisfied with the Performance of Wenchi based referee Joseph Anane and his assistants left the Wa Park disappointed though were applauded for excellent performance by the home fans including Bazooka owner, Awudu Orison who told tufaghanafc.com that they were lucky to win.
Tamale Utrecht had their tactical planned worked out in the first half and kept their opponents at bay whilst Adam A. Basit intermittently added up in midfield and sprung to join Vincent Deyi upfront on counter that created problems for the Bazooka defence.
The visitors claim for a penalty in the 40th minute was ignored by the centre man after Adam Ibrahim was tipped in the penalty area.
However in the 59th minute, Bazooka scored from a penalty after the referee was cowed by pretence from the host attacker in the penalty area when he went down without any contact.
In other results Guan United went up the 7-club league pack after registering the highest score in the week 1when they beat Galaxy FC 2-0 at the Tamale stadium annex.
Elsewhere, Yeji Juventus marshalled their home advantage to beat newcomers Toende United 1-0 to go joint second with Bazooka FC whilst Wa Yassin FC rested for the weekend parings.
