RTU IN DANGER AS THEY FAILED IN HISTORY TO WIN AT INTERVAL
6 January, 2013
Premiership returnee, Real Tamale United are positioned in relegation zone at the end of the first half of the Glo premier league without a win in 15 matches and managing just five draws. The club ended the first round losing 4-0 to newly promoted side Amidaus Professionals in Tema today.
It is history made in the club 35 year participation in Ghanaian football as RTU has never ended the first round in any competition without a win.
The club witnessed its worst performance in the 2010/2011 premier league when it was relegated, but managed with three wins to end the first round in that season in the matches below.
Tamale - Week 6. RTU 2 - 0 Wa Allstars (6/10/10)
Tamale - Week 13 RTU 1 - 0 Medeama (28/11/10)
Tamale - Week 15 RTU 2 - 1 Hearts (19/12/10)
The club also ended the first round of the 2010/11 season with 12 points far better than the current season where it has amassed just 5 points and sitting at the bottom of the table.
RTU has two more home matches to serve away after they were punished a 6 match home ban following supporters’ hooliganisms at the Tamale Sports stadium.
The club will play those matches away to Amidaus Professionals and Kumasi Asante Kotoko when the league resumes.
