The evening session of the Tamale Utrecht Football Academy invitational tournament ended on an exciting note for Tamale FC that shocked their host Tamale Utrecht 2-0 in the second match.
The Kasalans however made amends in the competition from winning 1-0 in the final match against the select side of the three other clubs in the competition.
Earlier, Liberty Babies won 4-3 on penalties against Al-Itifaq after playing scoreless in regulation time. Liberty Babies, Al-Itifaq and Tamale FC had their best players selected by the Lebanese scout Mr. Umar and Willie Kluste, playing in the final match against the TUFA side that won 1-0.
The event marked the beginning of several competitions in the academy to offer opportunities for young and talented players in the region to be unearthed.
‘The programme was primarily an opportunity for our young players in the division two to be identified by the scouts, it has however offered the TUFA division one side an opportunity to trim the rough edges as we prepare for our division one league’ Technical Director Jawhari Baba-Duah noted.
