Gargo furious at RTU management

14th of May, 2011

Care-Taker coach of RTU, Mohammed Gargo is angry at the decision of management asking him to appoint his preferred coach as assistant.

This comes after the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the club, Mr. Abu Nurideen told a local radio station in Tamale that, management have given Gargo the green- lights to appoint his assistant for fear of interference in his work. But the former Ghana international rubbished the decision describing it as a wrong move by the management since he has no official mandate to do so. “I’ve been interim coach of RTU since the departure of Talat Uzum and yet to conclude my substantive status with the club. I'm therefore not eligible to recruit an assistant. It is not done anywhere in the world" Gargo said.

Gargo has been an interim coach of RTU since the departure of Turk Talat Ozum at the beginning of the second half of the 2010/11 season but was yet to receive an official letter from the club confirming him as coach of the club. The ex-Ghana international is also playing a dual role at RTU, being a management member and a care-taker coach.

Gargo have also been struggling to transform RTU into a formidable team since taking interim charge of the team. RTU is placed 14th on the league table with 29 points with four (4) matches to end the season. The team will play away to league leaders Berekum Chelsea on Wednesday. (credit: Abdulai M. Rafiq)
