Maxwel wants to leave Nou Camp for more playing time in PSG

The primary dream of every footballer should be to gain first team play in all competitions meaning more playing time. However not all players registered by a single club can achieve regular place in a team for a season long competition.

In Ghana, Premier clubs register as many as 45 players for a  season and a lot of this number will not even sit on the substitute bench or let alone be introduced in a match for just 2 minutes in a full season. This can continue for one or more seasons without the player’s involvement in any competitive match.

Unfortunately some players prefer to hang on as far as his salaries are regular in absolute disregard of his inactivity that could derail his form.

Generally, coaches endowed with quality players in their clubs will not rotate players simply to ensure that every player in the club takes part in competitive matches, as far as the first team squads that bring results are established.

Players who are however normally affected in such circumstances and are concerned about their form will not hesitate but to seek for a release either on permanent or loan basis to another club where they will be guaranteed playing time.

Such is the case of Brazilian defender Maxwell who has not established himself as a first team regular in the star studded Barcelona team after arriving at the Nou Camp from Inter Milan in 2009.

Maxwell, 30, has made only 12 appearances so far this season and is set to join big-spending French side Paris Saint-Germain after the Catalan club revealed that talks were underway over his exit.

The Brazilian defender has won ten medals at the club, but wants to move to Ligue 1 to get more playing time.

"Maxwell came to see us and he told us he had an offer from PSG and he would like to accept it," said Barca boss Pep Guardiola. "He wants to leave and if he reaches an agreement the club will not stand in the way."

There are several other players such as Andre Dede Ayew that saved their careers by requesting to move to other clubs to gain playing time and develop or keep their form.

It is in the interest of other local players espececially in the Ghanaian leagues to take a cue and strive to be in competition all season in order to save their careers.
