The journey in the 2011 / 2012 soccer season started positively for Tamale Utrecht Football club when they thrashed Tamale Polytechnic male football team 5-1 in a friendly match played on Saturday at the polytechnic park.

TUFC went ahead in the game when they scored in the 11thminute from Abdul Moomin Tahiru right foot finish and ended first half proceedings 1-1 after the polytechnic lads had come back from the spot on the half time mark.

Both clubs returned from recess determined to take control over the game, however it was TUFC that had better exchanges in midfield and enjoyed effective defensive play whilst the three top attackers made excellent runs in the middle and the flanks to make the game more difficult for their host.

The dominance of TUFC in the game produced a brace from diminutive striker Adam A. Basit in the 63rdand 80thminute whilst tall and lanky defender Mohammed Alhassan registered his first goal of the season in the 59thminute.

Substitute Alidu Yakubu got his name on the score sheet in the 60thminute.

Head coach Mu-az Choo was happy with the team fighting spirit and commended the players for their response to tactical play. ‘We are preparing a solid team that every player in the club can play in the first team and give the club good results in our competitions’ Coach asserted.

TUFC have been drawn to play away to Salaga Jakpa Warriors in the MTN FA cup competition on December 13, 2011. Meanwhile fixtures for the division one league are yet to be released by the Division One League Board.
